COURSE INFORMATION

 

INDIVIDUAL LESSONS

One to one tutoring with John Landor in NW8 or SE13, tailored to your particular needs, interests and pace. I can help with specific pieces, and prepare you for anything from rehearsing school ensembles to professional symphony concerts, as well as competitions and auditions.​ I offer baton and rehearsal technique, score learning and memorisation, interpretation, early music, contemporary music, choral-orchestral conducting and more.  

CLASSES

​​​​​​​Detailed work on conducting technique, both individually and as a group. Repertoire can include both general orchestral excerpts and works from upcoming workshops. Participants can contribute to the classes by either singing or playing for their colleagues, and occasionally a piano accompanist is used. 

​​Levels: Beginner to advanced

Podium time: various

Accompaniment: Class ensemble or professional pianist

WEEKEND WORKSHOPS

For conductors with good basic basic skills, up to advanced. You will discover new ways to improve your conducting and learn new techniques, while gaining further insights from observing your colleagues. It’s also a great opportunity to network with your peers.

Levels: Intermediate to advanced

Podium Time: 80 minutes over the weekend 

Accompaniment: Piano, advanced student ensembles and orchestra.

 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION​​

Applications with deadlines should be received by midnight of the deadline date. Applicants will be contacted within one week.

To gain the most from your participation, you should familiarise yourself with all the pieces listed in any course you are attending and works or movements you are conducting should be learned thoroughly. While repertoire preferences will be accommodated wherever possible, the final decision rests with the Principal Tutor.​

 

You are requested to attend the whole of any session or days you have booked.

You are welcome to video any of your own sessions. In some courses video recording is included.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS​​

Cancellations: Fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable. However, if a replacement is found and agreed with the Director, 75% of the fee can be returned. If any part of the course is cancelled by the Academy, refunds will be applied pro rata.  

Course durations: If any course is under-subscribed its duration may be shortened proportionally. Participants will still get the podium time they have booked, or they can opt to increase it, at additional cost.   

Discounts and promotional offers: These are subject to availability and may be modified or withdrawn at any time without prior notice. Discounts cannot be applied retrospectively and are only valid at the time of booking.

Age limits: All courses are designed for adults 18 years of age or older. However, younger applicants may exceptionally be considered if accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian. 

Programme status: LCA is not an accredited institution and does not offer recognised diplomas or degrees, nor does study with us make you eligible for a student visa.
