Music-in-Motion Ensemble Auditions

What is Music-in-Motion?

It's an exciting new way of performing instrumental classical music developed by conductor John Landor.

How does it work?

The musicians play from projections of the full score, from memory or a mixture of both. There are no music stands or chairs on stage so that the musicians are able to move to interact more closely with each other. They can embody the music more fully with movement and gesture, dramatically expressing the structure, drama and narrative of the music to the audience.

What are the benefits?

Music-in-Motion opens up new possibilities for making classical music more exciting and engaging for audiences while respecting the dignity and authenticity of the work.

Workshop-Auditions

Both individual musicians and pre-formed chamber ensembles are invited to apply to take part in Music-in-Motion workshop-auditions.

The workshops are an opportunity to discover, develop, experiment and train in Music-in-Motion techniques. Apart from the performance opportunities below they aim to enable participants to develop their performance communication skills in more traditional performance situations.

They are led by LMA Music Director John Landor together with dance and theatre professionals.

Applicants to take part in our regular concert series at St-Martin-in-the-Fields as soloists, principals or tutti players. This may involve a further individual audition.

We are also keen to collaborate with musicians and ensembles who wish to use Music-in-Motion in their own performances.

We could help with production costs relevant to the Music-in-Motion element of your performance and provide you with professional audio/visual marketing materials for your own use.

We could also consider you for engagements in our own Music-in-Motion concert productions in the near future.
