Monday 29th July 10 am – 5 pm NO PLACES AVAILABLE
Special offer: just £35.00!

These low-cost conducting workshops, sponsored by London Musical Arts, are an opportunity to experience John Landor’s conducting instruction at first hand and be considered for future courses, masterclasses and individual lessons with him.

Testimonial: Thank you for a brilliant course! I learnt a lot and you introduced whole new layers to my conducting that I’m excited to explore and put into practice. Everyone was so friendly, and it was such a lovely atmosphere to work in.

Each workshop will involve group work on technique and individual podium time of up to 30 minutes on Beethoven’s Symphony No 1, accompanied by a professional pianist and fellow participants. You will be assigned a workshop with participants of similar ability where possible. You may video your own session. Video/photography may be made by the organisers for future use.

Further dates may be added during August 2024, so if you cannot attend either workshop, please send your contact details and the application information below.

18 years and over. You can attend only one of the workshops and should stay for the duration. Previous participants at John Landor’s courses are not eligible.

Some experience of conducting. Good knowledge of music theory and analysis. Confidence reading full scores. Bring your own orchestra score of the repertoire (batons are optional). If you play a relevant orchestral instrument to Grade 8 plus, bring both instrument and a music stand to play for your fellow participants.

Please send an email including the following:

  • a covering note saying why you are interested

  • your level (beginner, intermediate, advanced)

  • your availability/non-availability for either day

  • your CV, with any conducting experience and online links, if any, to your conducting videos

  • what instrument/s you play (to Grade 8 level and above)

Early application is advised as places will be offered to suitable applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. We will respond within three days of receiving your application and your place will be confirmed on receipt of the fee. Fees are non-refundable.
