Weekend Conducting Courses 2022

30 - 31 July, 10:30 - 17:30 Central London, W9

For improving and advanced conductors who wish to develop their technical skills and express their musical intentions more effectively.  

Podium time: 60 - 80 minutes each weekend for up to 8 participants, conducting other participants and a professional piano accompanist.

 

Repertoire: Beethoven Symphony No 4, Egmont Overture, Mozart Symphony No 40

Video: you may video your sessions. 

Fees:

Playing participants: £160, non-playing participants: £180 (full-time students £20 off).

Two / three weekends booked together: 10% / 15% reduction.

Playing participants must offer a relevant orchestral instrument to grade 8+ standard. 

Application: Please indicate which  instrument/s you play with level/qualifications, CV, links to conducting video, repertoire suggestions.

This is an opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, network, advise and be advised about anything to do with conducting, including: tricky transitions, organising rehearsal schedules, fermatas, conducting amateurs or professionals, accelerandos, starting your own orchestra, applying for jobs, sub-divisions, conducting competitions and courses, marketing yourself, accompanying soloists.

Participants are encouraged to show videos of their conducting for analysis and discussion. 

Individual lessons for beginners to advanced (in-person or online)

£70 ph or £240 for four hours of lessons scheduled within a four week period.

Lessons must be paid in advance, cancellation subject to 24-hours notice.
